Cork Pops
A wonderful
musical extravaganza was experienced by all third class pupils and teachers today at City Hall! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and went back to school humming and
tapping our feet. A big thank you to Mrs Kenny for organising this great day
out!
A Famous Visitor
A Famous Visitor
On Tuesday, my teacher told us there was going to be a
visitor. We were very excited. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. My
teacher said “Come in”. It was Howard Carter! We all couldn’t believe our eyes.
He told us all about the discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb. It was so
interesting!
By Howard Carter
4th
of November 1922….. I just about to give up finding Tutankhamun’s tomb. On that
day, one of my workers gave me a letter that said come and see what I found. I
saw 3 steps. Three days later, I found 12 steps that leaded to a door. There
was a lock on the door which meant nobody had ever robbed this tomb before. I
was so excited! I called Lord Carnarvon right away. We opened the door and we
saw a long passageway. I could hardly wait! I saw another door. We went through
and I saw beautiful treasures. There was one last door and we went in. We saw a
golden coffin. We needed a crane to get it open. It said pharaoh on it. We
opened it. There was the death mask of Tutankhamun. I had been looking for this
for many years. This was one of the best days of my life! Sadly, two weeks
later, Lord Carnarvon got a mosquito bite and died. Some people believe it was
a curse of seeing Tutankhamun…..

Children from Ms. Hipwell's class completed projects on China. Children studied Chinese Art & Culture, Chinese Landmarks, Chinese Inventions, Chinese Animals, Chinese Fashion and Chinese New Year. This project finished up with a delicious sampling of Chinese food that the children brought into school.
